What is Homes for Our Troops? What is Kids for Our Troops?

Homes for Our Troops is a Massachusetts based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity committed to building new or adapting existing homes for our severely disabled veterans. We build handicapped accessible homes and if a veteran already has a home, we make it accessible for him/her to be able to move around their house without limitations. Kids for Our Troops was started as a way to help parents, teachers, leaders and kids of all ages get involved in the effort to help support our disabled veterans.

How Can Kids Help?

Even though kids are small, they can accomplish great things when they put their minds to it! There are many ways kids can help our disabled American Heroes. Here are just a few

Steps Toward Home - Hold an Easy Online Fundraising Event - Walk, Bike, Run, Jump Rope or Read Books, ask family and friends to sponsor you by sending them email letters and let them help you reach your fundraising goal! It is free to become a team member and you will have access to your own Personal Web Page where you can: Upload images from your computer to tell your story. Write in your own words why you want to raise money for Homes for Our Troops Set a goal and send out personalized emails to friends and family asking them to help you reach your goal Track your progress of funds raised Send out Thank You emails and much more! • Hold a Fundraiser - car wash, bake sale, craft fair, yard sale, dinner party....
• Pass out information at a local event, football game, holiday concert, or church service
• Place flyers in store windows in your town
• Set up a table in front of your local store to take donations, pass out flyers and get volunteers for your effort. (Always get permission first!)
• Write letters to your congressman and let them know about the effort to help our disabled veterans
• Ask your local businesses to donate building materials, money, or labor to our home building effort. See Sample Letters»
